Up is the first “Carbono Zero” in-flight magazine in the world
—
Our September issue will be the first CarbonoZero® edition of UP. A partnership with CarbonoZero® means that this is the first in-flight magazine in the world, and the first monthly publication in Portugal to offset the greenhouse gases emissions associated with its production and printing, continuing TAP’s policy of sustainability.
Each copy of UP emits, on average, around 200 g equivalent carbon dioxide (CO2e). To cancel out the effect of this and future editions on the climate, equivalent carbon credits will be used from the CarbonoZero® offset project portfolio. In our case, the credits are created from technological and agro-forest projects based in developing countries; specifically Brazil and Mozambique.
A CarbonoZero® is an E.Value brand that allows citizens and companies to take on climate responsibility, quantifying, reducing and compensating their carbon emissions. Until this edition, around 30,000 tonnes of CO2e have been offset for over 100 business clients via CarbonoZero®, including major projects, such as Rock in Rio Lisbon and Madrid, the Signing of the Lisbon Treaty and the Portuguese participation of the 2010 Beijing Expo.
