TAP voted the best airline
TAP continues to lead the world’s top airlines. After receiving the Marketeer Award for Best Airline this year, it was then voted Best Aviation Company at the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards last September. Considered Portugal’s tourism Oscars, these awards highlight the sector’s best companies, initiatives and professionals, with seven international airlines competing in this 16th edition. “We’re very proud to receive this award, which consolidates TAP’s role as Portugal’s largest exporter, and the efforts made on all fronts to improve customers’ experience of their entire trip”, said Albertina Martins, head of TAP’s Brand Activation & Licensing, who received the award on behalf of the airline. “This award is dedicated to all the staff who work every day, directly or indirectly, and contribute to making TAP the best option when our Customers’ make travel choices”, she said. The winners were chosen according to a weighted average between Publituris magazine subscribers’ votes (40%) and the those of the jury (60%). During the event, 21 awards were given to companies, institutions and major figures of Portuguese tourism.

These were the awards that TAP and its TAP Miles&Go loyalty programme picked up at the 2019 Frequent Traveler People’s Awards ceremony in London, on the evening of 19th September. Making its debut at these awards, the Portuguese airline won three of the five categories it competed in. The Frequent Traveler People’s Awards, now in their fourth year, recognise best practice in the travel industry, in terms of global and regional customer loyalty.
Pets now earn miles
To mark World Animal Day on 4th October, TAP launched a new product for our loyal friends: Miles&Go Pets. Now, TAP Miles&Go customers can earn up to 500 miles when travelling on TAP with their pets, whether in the cabin or hold. Mileage accrual is valid for all customers registered with TAP’s loyalty programme and is done according to segment flown and pet transported, with 500 miles for pets flying in the hold and 250 miles for pets transported in the cabin. To earn miles with Miles&Go Pets, TAP Miles&Go customers must enter their travel purchase information and book pet transportation no later than 24 hours before departure. The miles will be added 24 hours after travelling, according to the animal transported and the flight taken.
Promoting social and economic integration
Between 9th and 15th September, TAP organised a new charity auction of 41 aircraft parts no longer used for commercial purposes, together with the eSolidar online fundraising platform. After selling off a variety of chairs – like those used in the Portuguese band Xutos & Pontapés’ most recent videoclip -, tables and galleys, TAP raised over €2,000, which was given to the Associação para a Integração de Pessoas com Necessidades Especiais (Association for the Integration of People with Special Needs), which helps young people and adults with cognitive disabilities integrate socially and economically. This initiative, now in its 12th year, has enjoyed the help and support of TAP’s customers and staff, as well as aviation enthusiasts, who are helping rebuild the Antiga Escola do Brejo school, in Alverca, which will bring the Association’s Activity and Vocational Training Centre together in one place.
