YOU GOT ME ROCKING, THE ROLLING STONES
The Stones are the ultimate veterans, and the longevity of this London rock/ blues four-piece is remarkable. Last May, they kicked off their American No Filter tour, while November sees the release of a concert film of five sold-out nights at Ilpo Musto Buenos Aires’s River Plate Stadium in 1998.
NEGUINHO, GAL COSTA
Two years ago, Gal Costa commemorated 50 years in the business with the Espelho d’Água tour, and 2019 saw the release of the album, A Pele do Futuro. A major figure of the tropicalismo movement, one of her recent songs includes the words: “I am the daughter of all the voices that came before/ I’m the mother of all the voices that will come after”.
NO MORE, JAZZMEIA HORN
Some reckon that this 28-year-old Texan singer-songwriter is the future of jazz. Winner of the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition, she was also nominated for the Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy. Her latest album, Love & Liberation (2019) is also a concept and a mantra she consistently uses in everyday life.
