3 things about Joker

The Joker character was created by Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson and Bill Finger, and appeared in the first edition of Batman in 1940. He has been played by several actors in TV and cinema, including Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and by Mark Hamill in video games.

Joaquin Phoenix won public acclaim with Gladiator (2000), which also earned him his first Oscar nomination. He has been nominated on two other occasions for Best Actor, for Walk the Line (2005) and The Master (2012). Known for his eccentricity, he is one of Hollywood's most respected actors and will play the main role again in the Joker sequel.

Todd Phillips’s track record in comedy made this very adult Joker rather a surprise to audiences. His directorial debut was Road Trip (2000) but he’ll always be associated with the Hangover trilogy (2009-2013). In 2007, he got his first Oscar nomination for the script of Borat. His next project will be a biopic of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan.
